The Quill Scene was started in the summer of 2021 while driving from Port Townsend to Olympia on 101. Passing by Quilcene, editor Nikki McClure grabbed a pen and found a crumpled receipt and began her journalistic career. The newspaper was revived in the winter of 2021 when the editor woke up and knew she had to let everyone know that it was not the weekend.

The Quill Scene aspires to be hyperlocal news and a relaxing antidote to the news we scroll past all day. This news is best read with a cup of tea. The Quill Scene is also available in a more awkward format on Instagram @nikkimcclure or #thequillscene in case you enjoy frustrating finger manipulation when reading a newspaper. We will do our best to be as factual as possible and we encourage letters from readers as well as corrections.

Thank you for subscribing!
